About

Dr. Martin Schippan advises newspaper and magazine publishers on all legal matters. Focusing primarily on press law, he conducts many test cases on fundamental issues of reporting on suspicion, monetary compensation and damages, as well as other current topics; in many cases, these are only decided before the Federal Court of Justice. Another focus of his work is the copyright protection of journalistic content and its secondary use. Legal issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence have long been an integral part of his daily practice.

Studied law and English language in Freiburg, Lausanne and Munich. Intern and freelance journalist for the Badische Zeitung, the F.A.Z. and ZDF, among others. Since 1997, he has been a founding member of LAUSEN, specialising in press, publishing and copyright law. From 1995 to 2016, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Copyright and Media Law in Munich, responsible for ZUM and specialist lawyer training. Author, speaker and expert in press and copyright law with numerous publications.
